                                                Co-Founder of Mayan Hope

Donald Langley 1944 -2012

In June of this year we lost a dear friend and the co-founder and executive director of Mayan Hope. Don had lived and worked with the indigenous people of Central America for decades. It was the highlands of Guatemala that captured his heart 10 years ago. He settled there and made it his life work to help the local people improve their lives. In 2005, after realizing that children with special needs where receiving no help from the public school system, Don and other volunteers started the Mayan Hope School.

Don had wide ranging projects helping the people of the Ixil triangle:  helping a local honey cooperative and coffee cooperative market their products, building fuel efficient stoves, introducing new garden techniques, food dehydration, small animal husbandry, soy milk production, and helping two boys orphaned by the war get educations in Germany and the US.

Don's heart of gold continues to shine through in the projects he initiated. Don is greatly missed by friends and family around the world.
